Metal framework from hotel tumbles onto road

 The aluminium framework on the under-construction multi-storey J W Marriott Hotel, on Vittal Mallya Road, collapsed on the road, causing a minor traffic jam.

The entire aluminium framework gave way and tumbled down from about 100 ft high. Fortunately, no one was injured. Cubbon Park Police who rushed to the spot said there was a technical glitch in the fitting, leading to the accident. The hotel management has now placed an mesh around the building to prevent such mishaps.

 J W Marriott General Manager Parul Thakur said, “We received timely assistance from the traffic police in cordoning off the area and allowing traffic to be diverted. We are taking all steps to prioritise and ensure the safety of the public and personnel,” she said.
