Speaking to Deccan Herald, Udupi Circle Inspector Girish said that the accused Hrishikesh (28) from Ambalpady was visiting the bank since past three days. He managed to gain entry into the bank’s strong room on Monday evening, by escaping the branch manager’s attention.

As a routine, strong room was locked before closing the branch’s main door, after the banking hours. Accused was inside the strong room throughout the night and succeeded in opening a locker and also pocketed Rs 95,000, police said.

In the morning, when the branch manager opened the strong room’s door, the accused inside the room pushed the manager aside and tried to escape. However, the other staff members and the manager succeeded in nabbing him. A case has been registered.
