Health Minister U T Khader has directed the officials concerned to observe highway patrolling and to carry out Nakabandi in Gundia in the wake of frequent  road blocks in Charmadi Ghat caused due to the falling of trees during rains.

After visiting the flood effected areas of Kallapu, Adamkudru and surrounding areas in Mangalore on Thursday, he convened an emergency meeting of officials in Deputy Commissioner’s Office and discussed about the immediate measures to be taken.

Khader directed district health and family welfare officers to deploy more ambulances in the banks of Netravathi river. He also told the official to be ready to rescue the people stuck in flood-hit areas, by taking the help of local organisations and youth. He insisted the health officer to take precautionary measures to control contagious diseases after the floods recede.

Fisheries department Deputy Director told that people in the flood effected areas have been shifted to safer areas with the help of 150 swimmers in Ullal Somanatha Uliya.

Health minister warned the people not to get into water without knowing the depth as there are possibilities of getting caught in the water flow.

He told that electrical connection has been cut in the areas where incidents of breaking of electrical wires and filling of water in transformers have occurred. He meanwhile told the departments to work with coordination. Additional DC K A Dayanand, SP Abhishek Goyal were present. “There are possibilities of heavy rains till July 9. In case of problems, people may contact toll free number1077,” the DC said.
