<p>Five BJP party workers were injured, one seriously, when former deputy mayor S Harish and his supporters allegedly attacked them with chairs at a hotel in Rajajinagar I Block, on Friday night. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The injured Nagadhar, resident of Vrishabhavathi, was taken to ESI hospital and later shifted to Nimhans for head injuries. Prasanna Kumar, Vijayalakshmi, Hari Kumar and Archana were also injured in the incident.<br /><br />According to Subramanyanagar Police, leaders of Mahalakshmipuram Assembly Constituency had convened a meeting at Benaka Party Hall at 7.30 pm to make appointments for the posts of presidents and secretaries of seven wards and other office-bearers of committees. <br /><br />The State office of the BJPhad appointed Banu Prakash, Ravindra andLaskhmi Narayana as observers. They had to announce presidents and secretaries of seven wards under the constituency. The president and secretary of Vrishabhavathi Ward had deserted the party and the leaders had asked them to be the part of selection process. <br /><br />Laskhmi Narayan told the meeting that the appointment for Vrishabhavathi Ward would be kept pending. However, Ravindra made the announcement, Vijayalakshmi, one of the injured said.<br /><br />“We objected saying there was no meeting with local party workers. Without any provocation, Harish and his supporters Shankarappa, Venkatappa and Pasha and 50 others attacked us with weapons. They chased a few women workers and thrashed them,” she claimed.<br /><br />Nagadhar fell on the ground and sustained injuries on his face, head, chest and hands. The police rushed to the spot on being alerted and shifted the injured to ESI hospital. <br />The meeting was abruptly called off following the violent incident. <br /><br />Vijayalaskhmi said Nagadhar’s condition was critical and said none of the leaders visited the hospital.<br /></p>
