'Furnish audit reports for RTE payment'

Last Updated 08 July 2013, 19:57 IST

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has asked schools across the State to furnish their audit reports if they want reimbursement for children they have admitted under the Right to Education (RTE) quota.

Schools are reimbursed Rs 11,848 for a primary student and Rs 5,924 for a pre-primary student admitted under the RTE quota. In a circular, the DPI stressed that schools will be reimbursed based on their audit reports of previous years and their total expenditure divided by the number of children admitted.

Schools, it appears, are paying more heed to the DPI directions, especially after the delay in reimbursement last year. The Karnataka State Private Schools Management Federation recently held a meeting of its member-schools to educate them about maintaining proper audit reports and RTE accounts. The Karnataka Unaided Schools Managements’ Association (KUSMA) also held a meeting on similar lines.
