CM to hold meet on Metro phase-2

Last Updated 11 July 2013, 18:50 IST

Notwithstanding Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s (BMRCL) position (of not revisiting) on re-alignment on more than one stretch of Namma Metro’s phase-2, including the re-alignment near Jayadeva Hospital, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has promised to hold a meeting to discuss issues pertaining to the project.

One of the members of Citizens’ futuristic Bangalore (a group of affected citizens) told Deccan Herald, “The chief minister has told us he will give us the meeting date on Friday. We will then meet to discuss the issues about Metro phase-2 at ITPL (Whitefield), Jayanagar and other places.”

The forum felt that the elevated stretch of phase-2 would result in increased traffic jams, travel time, fuel consumption and more accidents. They claimed that BMRCL was wrong in claiming that underground was four to five times costlier than elevated Metro.
