Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar, on Friday, appreciated the government’s intention to make Bangalore a safe city.

Stating that Bangalore is one of the cities to be covered under Public Safety Cities, he said, with funds provided, the City’s infrastructure was bound to improve and one could see better traffic management in due course.

However, another officer wondered how the government would carry forward its plans of making Bangalore safe. For, according to him, as the western parts of the City witnesses more crimes, one could use the funds to prevent them. Likewise, a few were disappointed that the budget had made no mention of increasing police stations in the City, a long-standing demand. They welcomed the decision to allocate Rs four crore for highway patrol vehicles in all districts.

The decision to house a police commissioner’s office in Belgaum, too, was hailed.
