'Official-contractor nexus'

Speaking at a press meet here on Friday he said “Around 60 transformers have to be installed in my constituency, but it is not taken up. The company has brought 260 transformers to be installed but the local contractors are hindering the process and are creating trouble”, he alleged. “I have appealed to Bescom and KPTCL managing director to suspend both the officials of Bescom.”

He also accused that the contractors had stolen wires, installed by them after getting workorders and asked the authorites to raid their godowns. “I am sure they can get Rs 5 crore worth materails from each contractor”, he said.  Among the 13 industries, some factories are resorting to power theft on a regular basis. The Bescom officials have not taken any steps to detect or control power theft, he alleged. Declaring his support to the Kolar bundh, he said “ mere protest will not resolve the issue.”
