Wakf Board: HC grants interim stay

Khalid Ahmed, the chairman and members of the Karnataka State Board of Wakfs have challenged the Government Order issued on November 4, 2009, superceding the Board and appointing M A Saleem as administrator following financial irregularities revealed by a Corps of Detectives (CoD) inquiry.

The petitioners contended that the Wakf Board had been unceremoniously dislodged and the administrator appointed without any consultation.

The advocate for the government argued that there was no undue haste in the appointment.
However, the High Court granted an interim stay of two weeks on the appointment of the administrator to the Wakf Board.

The matter has been adjourned.
