A media release issued by BIA here on Monday states that the first departure that took place on Saturday was a smooth affair. There has been a seamless coordination between the Haj committee and BIA, with the check-in and immigration process done in the City.

This results in very short waiting time and a relaxed start to the journey. Over 900 passengers have departed till date. In the next two months, over 6,000 pilgrims would have transited through the airport, the release added.   Check in counters and security scanners, direct access to the airside has been provided, where passengers have to walk no more than 70 meters to their waiting aircraft. Eight BIA operations personnel, including a terminal manager have been designated for assistance, release said.
