D Venkatesh Murthy, whose term as Mayor ends on Tuesday, has many firsts to his credit but will also be remembered for being mired in controversies.

Sworn in as the 46th Mayor on April 27, 2012, Murthy is demitting office as the longest-serving First Citizen. Besides, he is the first Mayor to table the BBMP budget for two consecutive times.

The records apart, Murthy was in the news for wrong reasons last year when the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force booked a cheating case against him and his wife Prabha, with regard to allotment of bagair hukum land in 2004.

Further, for seven months, he failed to check the embarrassing garbage crisis. After his one-year tenure, Murthy threatened to resign, saying he was reduced to a caretaker Mayor without any financial powers.
