Two held for piracy

Acting on a tip-off, Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested two men for selling pirated films, and recovered discs and electronic gadgets worth Rs 11 lakh. 

Shabbir Ahmed, 22, of Siddharth Nagar and Abid Mohammad, 36, of Cottonpet were arrested when police raided their store on the ground floor in Ranasinghpet and NP Lanes.

Pirated versions of recently released English, Kannada, Hindi and Tamil films were confiscated from the store.

A case has been registered at Cottonpet police.

Woman robbed

Two unidentified youths allegedly robbed a woman of her gold chain worth Rs 75,000 and ran away at ESE Layout in Mahadevapura police station limits on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when the victim, Chandrakanthamma, was returning home after a morning walk. The suspects, who were riding on a bike, followed her for a distance, snatched the chain and fled,” police said.
