<p>As tension mounted after a class V student's death allegedly due to her detention in a school toilet, the beleaguered principal handed over her "resignation letter" to the police in the presence of agitating guardians this evening.<br /><br /></p>.<p>DC (DD) of Barrackpore commissionerate Debasish Bez, who was present at the school premises, told the agitators that principal of Christ Church Girls school Helen Sarkar had handed over a paper to him, purported to be her resignation letter.<br /><br />Refusing to accept the same as the resignation letter, the agitating guardians demanded that the principal should tender it on a school pad and it should be duly stamped.<br /><br />Hundreds of guardians, holding the school authorities responsible for the death of Oindrila Das (11), also demanded immediate arrest of the principal.<br /><br />The agitating guardians laid a siege to the main gate of the school, disallowing the principal and the teachers to leave the premises since morning.<br /><br />A combat force of police personnel was posted in and outside the school premises hours after a section of guardians, joined by some locals, went on the rampage, breaking furniture, equipment and damaging school property in protest against Oindrila's death.</p>
