Railway Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge announced on Saturday that the Sholapur-Yeshwantpur express will run daily starting from September 22.

He told reporters in the city that the Solapur-Yeshwantpur express  will leave Sholapur at 7.20 pm, reach Gulbarga at 9.03 pm and arrive at Yeshwantpur the next day at 7.10 am. In the return direction, the train will leave Yeshwantpur at 8.50 pm, reach Gulbarga at 6.25 am the next day and arrive at Sholapur at 8.40 am.

The train will be flagged off at the Gulbarga station on September 22. Kharge called upon the people of the Hyderabad-Karnataka region to make the best use of the daily train to the State capital.

New train

The minister said that they were mulling over running a new train between Hubli and Secunderabad from the middle of October. The new train will travel from Hubli via Gadag, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Hotagi, Sholapur, Gulbarga, Wadi and Tandur to reach Secunderabad.

Passenger trains

Kharge said the Railway ministry had no problems running passenger trains on the Bidar-Humnabad, Chikmagalur-Kadur and the Raichur-Gadwal routes.

But officials of the Railway Safety Authority were delaying the inspection of the routes, he said. This was coming in the way of running trains on these routes, the Railway minister added.
