Caught in creative differences

Last Updated 15 September 2013, 14:13 IST

Reacting to reports of differences between him and producer Ekta Kapoor over marketing of Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara, actor Imran Khan says he believes in ‘intelligent’ promotional strategies.

Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara, which showcases the criminal gangster saga, was released last month.

Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, this sequel to the 2010 film Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, starred Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan in lead roles.

When asked about the difference over marketing of the film, Imran says, “There is no point speaking about what has happened in the past. If you can’t say good things, then don’t talk. A film should be promoted aggressively but it should also be intelligent. I believe in promoting films in an intelligent way.”

The apparent rift widened so much that Imran has reportedly been replaced by Shahid Kapoor in Ekta’s next ‘Milan Talkies’.

The film is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. Imran is looking forward to the release of Karan Johar’s home production Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, where he is paired opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan.

“I am sure Karan will promote this film intelligently so I don’t worry when I work with him,” Imran quips.

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein will be his second film with Kareena Kapoor Khan after the blockbuster in 2012 romantic-comedy Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
