In between shots

Last Updated 17 September 2013, 14:24 IST

Megastar Mammootty has been shooting for a Malayalam film in the City for a while. And legions of his fans in namma Bengaluru cannot have enough of him.

Milling crowds waiting to get a glimpse of him and mediapersons hankering after him for a byte or two is the sight on the sets of the film. But the man chose to remain tight-lipped and say nothing to the media. As Mammootty went about giving his shots, Metrolife watched him from the periphery.

Mammootty has brought along his vanity van, where he spends his time between shots and when he’s taking a break. Despite his best efforts to stay away from the public eye, there is no way he can keep his army of admirers at bay.

Mammootty is essaying the role of a young judge in his forthcoming untitled project along with actress Pallavi.

And his get-up for the role is pretty interesting as he sports a jet black moustache with streaks of grey at the edges and the same streaks of white on his sideburns.
Talking about his appearance, director of the project, VK Prakash says, “This is one look that has been designed exclusively for his role in the film. The story traces the controversies and problems nagging him (Mammootty) when he becomes the youngest judge. It’s a different story and we have been working on it for the last three years.” Prakash further states, “Mammootty has essayed a number of roles as a lawyer. Coincidentally, he is a lawyer by profession. In that context, we thought this role would befit his tastes.”

Mammootty has serial actress and television anchor Kavitha Nair playing the role of his junior advocate in the film.

“I am fortunate to have bagged my debut film opposite Mammootty. Although a little reserved, he does well to instill a sense of confidence in newcomers. I must confess that I get the jitters when I am standing beside him,” laughs Kavitha.

Half Malayali and half Kannadiga, actress Pallavi plays the role of his wife in the film. “Mammootty is certainly very reserved and it is hard to come by actors who are this reserved considering the variety of roles he has done. I couldn’t believe that I was shooting with Mammootty, until I came on the sets and began work. Even then, I had to pinch myself to get started,” states an excited Pallavi, who thinks working with Mammootty is an opportunity of a lifetime.
