The State Government has sought the Union Cabinet’s  nod and Presidential assent, for the proposal to create reservations, cadre and special status for the Hyderabad-Karnataka region under article 371 (J).

A State-level Cabinet sub-committee was formed by the present government for the purpose of discussing the issues and formation of rules for the H-K region. The sub-committee report was approved by the State Cabinet for its implementation. Earlier this month, the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms sent this report to the Centre for its clearance and the approval of special status for the H-K region by President  Pranab Muhkerjee.

According to the DPAR officials, the proposal is just a formality which needed to be completed by the State for according future powers to the Governor for approving the rules for the H-K region. However, the department is not too sure when the President will give his nod.
