Keeping in mind the interest of today’s youngsters, which is hanging out and playing football, Cafe Coffee Day and Bengaluru Football Club (BFC) joined hands recently.

Players Sunil Chhetri, Robin Singh and team coach Ashley Westwood, were present at the event, which was held at Cafe Coffee Day (CCD), Lavelle Road. It was announced that CCD would partner with the BFC to promote the I League, the top-tier football league, and will be selling tickets at select outlets.

About the alliance, K Ramakrishnan, president marketing, CCD, said, “The passions of today’s youth change fast, and today’s flavour is football. This endeavour is to support football and create opportunities to popularise this fantastic sport in our country and the City.”

He also said that as part of trying to popularise the game, there would be interactive sessions held with the BFC’s sport stars at CCD outlets so that the fans could get a chance to experience the sport personally. The interest of the youth to the sport, particularly during the league, has seen a good response. Mustafa Ghouse, chief operating officer of BFC, said that with this step, there will be an increased interest.
“This platform will surely help to further our endeavour in promoting the sport,” said an excited Mustafa.

The event also included a fun quiz by the ‘Friends of Coffee’ club, which set the pulse thumping. Apart from some interesting football questions, other questions like ‘What is Ashley’s favourite coffee?’, ‘Which Bollywood actress would Robin want to take out for a date?’ were also asked, and gift hampers were handed out by the football players.
Sunil Chhetri, one of the players, also shared that he was excited about the brands coming together during the football season.

“I’ve heard that some people don’t know where to go to buy tickets, and this should help solve that issue. Also, what youngsters are looking for is a place to chat and sit down, and when they’re here, they can always get the tickets too.”
