Denying all the allegations levelled against Dharmasthala trust for illegal land acquisition and involvement in land mafia, Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade clarified that all the land transactions were made as per the government guidelines.

“The deputy commissioner or the assistant commissioner can conduct investigation in case of necessity,” Heggade said. He was addressing a convention organised by the supporters of Dharmasthala, at Rathnaverma Heggade stadium in Ujire on Wednesday.

He held MLA K Vasanth Bangera responsible for the investigation of Saujanya’s death case. “If the investigation fails to take the right course and does not reveal the truth, it would cause shame on the government and the police department. “Do not pay heed to rumours and gossips. Do not doubt us. Maintain peace,” he advised.

Further he said that denting the image of good people is equal to their death and praising bad people too is equal to their death. “Therefore, let no attempts be made to make allegations against innocent. Dharmasthala trust has implemented several programmes for improving the lifestyle of people. Beneficiaries should be a part of the progress. I am glad that several of our rural development project beneficiaries have become elected representatives,” Heggade said.

Denying the allegations, he said goondaism and dominance was not his style of functioning. False rumours will not stop the service activities in Dharmasthala. In fact, several new programmes will be chalked out for the welfare of the people, he said.

He also supported the need for complete investigation of Saujanya’s murder                     case. “There has been intervention in the investigation process. This is my last statement on the issue and henceforth, I would not comment,” he maintained.

Urban Development Minister Vinaya Kumar Sorake said that the government would not allow the rumours from spoiling peace in the State. The issue will be brought to the notice of the chief minister and the home minister. The truth behind Saujanya’s murder will be announced soon, he said.

Youth Service and Fisheries Minister Abhayachandra Jain, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, SCDCC Bank Chairman Rajendra Kumar and BJP District President Pratapsimha Nayak among others were present.
