Model-turned-actress Suman Ranganath has displayed her versatility over the years, be it Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil or Hindi films. She has managed to carve a niche for herself in the film industry wowing the audience with her performances.

The actress, who has a line up of films to be released, including Neer Dose and
Arrambam, says that although it’s been five years since she has acted in a Bollywood film, she will surely make a comeback.

“It’s been a while but that does not mean that I will not be doing Bollywood projects. I am certain of starring in one,” she says.

Suman, who is the brand ambassador for a jewellery expo, confides that she goes in for elegant and exclusive pieces. “But,” she reveals, “It’s not that I’m obsessed with jewellery. I do like it, but only to an extent. I pick up stuff that is elegant and goes with different outfits. I am particularly fond of temple jewellery. And I have made some wise investments.”

She goes on to add that actors are required to wear different kinds of jewellery, which has given her a chance to experiment. “Being artistes, we have to adapt and carry off whatever we have to wear,” she says. The former model feels that being the brand ambassador for the expo is like getting back to modelling. “But it’s much nicer than modelling,” she quips.

So how has she managed to maintain her popularity over the years? “Moderation is the key and I can say that I have always been a balanced person, which is what I think my success mantra is,” points out Suman. Giving credit to her parents, she says, “My
upbringing is such that I have always been taught to be practical,” she says.

Pointing out to the newcomers in the film industry, Suman cautions them not to get carried away by fame.

“I must say that the new generation is really good and professional. But from my experience, I can tell them that they must remember not to get carried away. It’s important to be oneself and keep in mind that the peak period of an actor’s career is short,” she says, adding, “They should invest their money wisely during their younger days.”
