<p> A two-and-a-half-year-old boy died in a hospital hours after a BMTC bus hit the scooter on which he was sitting even as his father tried to push-start it after it ran out of fuel near Munireddy Palya here on Saturday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Syed Azam and Sumaiya Banu, residents of DJ Halli, had been to Yeshwantpur to complete the ration card application process. Their only son, Syed Jilan, was also with them. <br /><br />The family was returning home when the scooter ran out of fuel. The couple got down but Jilan remained seated on the vehicle. <br /><br />Azam then began push-starting the two-wheeler whereas Banu, who is six months pregnant, walked behind. <br /><br />A fast-approaching BMTC bus (route No 12 bound for Shivajinagar) then rear-ended the scooter and Azam lost grip over it and he fell down. Jilan, too, fell down.<br /><br /> Azam managed to escape with only minor wounds. His son, however had a major injury when his head banged on the road divider, Azam, who is employed at a hotel in DJ Halli, recounted the accident to the police in a statement. <br /><br />Jilan was rushed to the M S Ramaiah Hospital where he succumbed to injuries late in the night. R T Nagar traffic police have booked a case and arrested the BMTC bus driver.</p>
