A homemaker, irked by a family court’s decision to impose penalty, tried to kill herself by dousing with kerosene at the court premises on Monday.
However, those present at the court premises rescued her from ending life.
According to sources in the police department, Shaila, 36, a resident of Krishnarajapuram, was upset after the family court on H Siddaiah Road imposed Rs 300 penalty on her for remaining absent for one of the hearings even though the court had issued summons.
Shaila attempted to end life minutes later after coming out of the court hall, sources added.
Differences of opinion
Shaila tied the knot with Dhanraj 17 years ago and the couple have two teenage daughters.
The couple developed differences of opinion in the recent past and Shaila lodged a complaint accusing her husband of harassing her.
However, Dhanraj refuted allegations made by Shaila and has applied for divorce claiming that he suspected the fidelity of his wife, the police said.
