The idiom ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ holds good for die-hard foodies Pavan and Abhishek.

Their restaurant ‘Tango’ in BTM Layout, 2nd Stage has become a new landmark for fat-free and tasty food.

Software engineers by profession, they decided to wear the apron and cooking hats when they felt there were not many restaurants in the City which sold healthy food.
Pavan recalls, “We are bachelors living away from families. We like eating out and are big foodies ourselves. So we felt there is a need to promote healthy food and hence came up with the restaurant.”

‘Tango’ is the result of many hours of experimentation at home.

Pavan says, “All the varieties on the menu were first experimented at home and then introduced at the restaurant.” He adds that friends too pitched in their with feedback about the taste. “We have come up with the recipes ourselves, got opinions from our friends and then improved upon the taste,” he adds.

The restaurant is popular among regulars for its sandwiches. There are varieties like the panini sandwich, regular grilled, plain and club sandwiches. For health-conscious people, their morning servings, which includes muesli, corn flakes and fruits, and shakes, are a blessing.

Pavan says, “When I used to go for my morning workouts, there were hardly any restaurants open early in the morning. Though I was told to consume shakes right after my workout, I did not have many options. That’s when the idea to open our restaurant at 7.30 am came in. At that time of the day, we reach out to people who are looking for something healthy after a walk or maybe a workout.”

The newly-launched restaurant already has regular customers.  Pavan says, “We have niche, targeted customers who come to our restaurant on a everyday basis. We haven’t ventured into full-fledged promotions because we want our restaurant to gain popularity through word of mouth.” Other tasty bites on their menu include salads, combos and chopsueys.

Their fruit smash, a juice without water, is preferred by people right after their workout.
Another attractive feature about this restaurant is the pricing. The cost of salad is around Rs 40 and the sandwich doesn’t cost more than Rs 30. Pavan says, “We are still in the introductory stage and may consider revising prices when we expand.” Grab your share of healthy food at ‘Tango’, near SBI Bank, 6th Main, 2nd Stage, BTM Layout.
