MSIL gets 450 wine shop licences

Instead, the Excise Department has awarded unutilised 450 licences to the government-owned Mysore Sales International Ltd.

Excise minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, on Saturday, said the MSIL had already set up 20 outlets. The company would open another 40 by December 10 and the rest would be opened in a couple of months. The government transferred 450 licences which remain unutilised to the MSIL.

The minister said the government collected Excise revenue of Rs 3,770.03 crore during the period April-October of the year. The collection of the revenue in the corresponding period of the previous year was Rs 3,141 crore. The department had set a target collection of Rs 6,650 crore for the current fiscal. Naidu said the department would soon recruit 100 sub inspectors and 350 guards.
