He was speaking after performing ground breaking ceremony for the Rs 6 crore works taken up under Suvarna Gram Yojana at Abbenahalli in Malur taluk on Saturday.
Recently High Court had stayed the works of the project following petition by some Zilla panchayat members who opposed the work on the grounds that the dam was built solemnly for irrigation purpose.

Lauding the Yeddyurappa-lead BJP government, he said that government was successfully implementing development works in rural areas and was fulfiling the Gandhiji’s dream of development of the nation through development of villages and establishment fo Ramarajya.

‘Reaching out to people’

The BJP government is the only government which has reached out to all sections of people through its budget, expressed Setty who said that Rs 1 crore would be sanctioned for the all-round development of every village in the Malur taluk.

Abbenahalli gram panchayat president B Balaji Singh presided over the function. Gram Panchayat vice-president B N Omprakash, Taluk Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ramakrishna, Assistant Executive Engineer Gangadhariah, former gp president Kodandarame Gowda, Narayanamma and others were present on the occasion.
