If you are a kid who cares for the environment, you might want to fill in the pages of your green diary with these friendly tips.

a. You can clean up your bathroom sink, tub and floor with baking soda.

Avoid chemical cleaners and use vinegar based toilet cleaners.

Clear out stuck hair, scum and filth in the sink and the tub drains by pouring a mixture of 1 cup salt, one cup baking soda and half a cup of white vinegar into the drain.

Let it stand there for half an hour and then flush it with two quarts hot boiling water. Then flush hot water down the drain for a minute or two. You will find the sink and tub drains cleaned up nicely.

Always keep a box of baking soda in the bathroom and in the kitchen for using as a safe cleaner.

Cultivate small spiders. Don’t kill them. They are good for the environment.
They eat up all the creepy things you should get rid of - cockroaches and flies!
Use compact fluorescent lighting. CFL’s are your best friends.

Make some coloured salt glitter!

Enjoy making some coloured salt glitter for colouring your cards, letters and gift wrappers. You will need one tablespoon liquid watercolour and one fourth cup salt. Mix them up. Spread out on paper towels and microwave for 2 minutes, with your mother’s help.

Use your fingers and break up any dried up clumps. Your glitter is ready.
