Popular comedian Kapil Sharma’s rib-tickling jokes and one-liners made up for the hour-long wait that his fans had to endure at his show in the City recently. The overwhelming response that he got for the event, organised by Mysore Ladies Circle 9 and ‘Krafting Success Productions’, went on to show his popularity in this part of the country as well.

Shruthi Giri, one of the organisers, explained that they decided to bring in Kapil as his television show is extremely popular. “Everyone loves a good joke and hence, we decided to bring a stand-up comedian for our charity event instead of any other artiste. The response has been overwhelming.

We never thought so many people would turn up. This programme is very special to us as this is the first time we have stepped out of our comfort zone and come to Bangalore and organised an event as big as this,” said Shruthi, a resident of Mysore.

The show was opened by Praveen Kumar, a stand-up comedian from Chennai. He tried to cheer the audience with his funny one-liners which had been derived from common topics like social media and the pronunciation of difficult names. Kapil Sharma finally entered the stage and got a rousing welcome from the audience.

Taking a jibe at the Punjabis and their energy, Kapil cracked a couple of jokes on Bangalore and made the audience laugh till there was no tomorrow with his puns and interesting experiences. His band added to the show with its sound effects. The place was packed and everyone stayed till end with many even standing throughout the programme.

Antara, who attended the show with her entire family, had a great time. “He is a complete entertainer. I watch his show everyday and love it. When I heard he will be performing in the City, I had to be here. His jokes are extremely witty and the way he puts serious messages across to people, in his style, is quite commendable,” she said.

Bangaloreans from all parts of the City came for the event. Jasjeet Singh Sodhi, a resident of Whitefield, was there till the show was over. “He is one of my favourites. His comic timing is superb and what better way to enjoy the weekend with the family than this. My family was thrilled to see him and we enjoyed every bit of the show,” he noted.
