Couple courted death just 2 stops away from home

Little did this City-based software engineer couple know before boarding the Nanded Express that this would be the last journey of their lives.

Srilata, 26, and Srinivas B, 28, boarded the train from Bangalore to visit their families in Anantapur.

The two, who were just two stops (72 km) away from their destination, were among those charred to death in the accident.

Srinivas’ family hailed from the City, but had settled in Anantapur as his father worked there, one of his relatives Manjunath said. The couple got married in the last week of May, 2013, he recalled.

Both the bodies have been identified by their families. However, they are awaiting the DNA test confirmation to take the bodies home.

Srinivas’ father Chandrashekar works in the postal department and mother Anasuya is a homemaker. Srilata’s parents are natives of Tirupati.

“The family has been told that it will take three days for the DNA results to be out. We are yet to take a call on the cremation,” Manjunath said. The couple were residents of Jayanagar in the City.
