Rs 80 lakh bogus relief cheques issued

Deputy Commissioner Anbukumar told reporters that during the review it was found cheques amounting to Rs 80 lakh have been issued in the taluk. Many of the cheques had been issued in the names of unauthorised banks.

Hence, a large number of cheques have not been cleared by the banks. He would review the situation in other taluks and order an inquiry into the incident.
The deputy commissioner directed the officials to disburse crop compensation before November 28.
