Sensitive info on Google maps riles BJP leader

Last Updated 11 January 2014, 21:25 IST

BJP MP Tarun Vijay on Saturday demanded the intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to bar Google from showing the country’s vital military installations and sought government action against the company for allegedly violating India’s mapping laws.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Vijay pointed out that the Surveyor General of India had even filed a police complaint in New Delhi, regarding the alleged violation of the country’s mapping laws by the Internet giant.

However, the UPA government had not initiated any steps.  He demanded that steps be taken to access the data the company possessed.
