Palanquins will be carried in open vehicle, says next Paryaya seer

Vidyawallabhatheertha Swami assures to hold talks with Shiroor mutt seer Laxmivaratheertha Swami, who raised an objection

The incoming Paryaya seer of Kaniyur mutt Vidyawallabhatheertha Swami declined to comment over the new controversy of palanquin put forth by the Shiroor mutt seer Laxmivaratheertha Swami. However, he added that the palanquins would be carried in the open vehicle as per the suggestion given by the Pejawar mutt seer Vishweshatheertha Swami. Attempts will be made to convince Shiroor seer.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, the seer said that he will hold talks with Shiroor seer and expressed confidence over solving the palanquin issue amicably. 

Retorting to a query over inviting Puttige seer Sugunendratheertha Swami to Paryaya Durbar and procession, the Kaniyur mutt seer said he will discuss the issue with other seers of Asta mutts and take a decision. However, he is giving an invite to the Puttige seer for the cultural programmes that is being organised following the durbar. 

Though he holds immense respect to Puttige seer, Kaniyur mutt seer also expressed concern over the decision of other seers who might boycott Paryaya Durbar following the invitation extended to Puttige seer.

Ascending Sarwajna Peetha

The seer said that he will proceed to Dandatheertha for the holy dip before ascending the Paryaya throne at around 2.30 am and will take part in the Paryaya procession at 3 am. He will ascend the ‘Paryaya Sarwajna Peetha’ at 5.50 am following which the Paryaya durbar will be held at 6 am in Rajangana.17 tableaux will take part in the procession that represents the affluent cultural tradition of the land. 

The outgoing Sode Vadiraja mutt seer Vishwavallabhatheertha Swami will be given ceremonial felicitation at around 9 pm on January 17.

He said that he is yet to take up the plans for developing the temple town during his Paryaya tenure. Whatever the development projects that would be taken during his tenure would end up in long-term benefits. The religious and cultural programmes would be part of the two year Paryaya. Besides, he is planning to bring out a pictorial volume on Mahabharata.The seer said Chief Minister Siddharamaiah would not be able to attend the Paryaya celebrations owing to his prior commitments and busy schedule.

Ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake, R V Deshpande, Ramanath Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, U T Khader, MP Jayaprakash Hegde, former CM Sadananda Gowda and MLA Pramodh Madhawaraj are among guests who will take part in the celebrations.
