HC upholds removal of nominated corporators

Last Updated 21 January 2014, 20:23 IST

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday upheld the government order cancelling nomination of 21 corporators to BBMP council. They were nominated corporators during BJP rule in the State.

A division bench headed by Justice N K Patil dismissed the appeal of the nominated corporators who had challenged government’s order.

The petitioners - Ramakrishna Reddy and Vishwanath Gowda - had challenged the Congress government’s order dated July 15, 2013, alleging that they have been removed as nominated corporators though they had not completed their term. They had termed the action of the government arbitrary and illegal. However, the bench dismissed the appeal.
