Governor H R Bhardwaj signed the amendment concerning reservation for candidates in public services under the Hyderabad-Karnataka Regional Act.

In the amended government order (GO), it is stated that eight per cent of all posts under the 12 categories will be reserved for people eligible under the H-K region benefits, in addition to 75 per cent reservation in Group  ‘A’  and ‘B’ posts.

The 12 categories include the Karnataka Public Service Commission, the Bangalore Development Authority or similar institutions in Bangalore, all State-level offices or bodies notified by the State government, Secretariats of the State government, Legislative Assembly and Council, among others.

The reservations will apply up to the level of Group ‘A’ (junior scale) or equivalent in promotions and all direct recruitments will be organised into a cadre to be reserved for local persons of the region.

The GO that was signed on Monday also says that persons aggrieved by any order, allotment or rejection to the local cadre may submit a representation within a period of sixty days to the State government. DH News Service
