Republic Day is round the corner and it’s the perfect occasion to flaunt your patriotism. The country is set to be painted in the colours of freedom and what better time to don the hues --saffron, white and green --yourself.

No, you need not drape yourself with the national flag but there are many ways to make your R-Day ensemble patriotic and yet stylish. Read on...

Ethnic outfits like sari, and salwar suits with dupatta, spell ‘I love India.’ Make sure to slip into one of these on R-Day. Makeover expert Aashmeen Munjaal says, “Our national costumes provide ample space to experiment with colours. Go for a tricolour sari, or else, one in white with a saffron border. Team up with tricolour bangles, an orange gajra or three bindis of each colour, one on top of the other.”

Suits in tricolour, or simply a white kurta with orange dupatta and green churidaar, have been all the rage on Republic Days. But even if you are not a ‘sari-suit person,’ Western outfits provide as many colour-coding options. Aashmeen says, “In winters especially, you can run a colour-riot with caps, scarves, gloves, leg warmers and
what not. You can also pair them with earrings in orange or green to complete
 the look.”

Tricolour nail art is another fun way to exude patriotism. Try polka dots and floral prints in saffron, white and green, or else, slogans like Jai Ho or Jana, Gana, Mana on your nails. Tricolours in different patterns on each nail also cut out the boredom of the flag simply replicated on them. Those who are open to hair colouring can get it streaked. If not, you can use extensions in green and saffron. Slim hair bands and ribbons are other options.

Aakriti Kochar, beauty and makeup expert, Oriflame India, puts together a few tricolour make-up looks that one can easily wear in a subtle manner. “Sport a bright
green or amber eye shadow with a winged black eye-liner. For those who do not like
too much colour, wear a white eye liner and flick it outwards. Add lots of mascara to add volume to your lashes.”

“Another R-Day look is a bright orange matte lip colour with a radiant dewy skin. Sport this look without a blush so that the lipstick is the focus.” Love for the country comes in many shades!
