According to officials at BIA, most of the flights between Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi were delayed by up to two hours.
As a cascading effect, flights arriving from Mumbai and other destinations were also delayed.
The visibility at the Bangalore airport dropped to 50 metres due to fog at around 6 am, hitting flight operations. Besides domestic operations, international flights to Dubai and Male were also delayed.
Passengers were stranded for hours at the airport. The terminal building and the eateries outside were crowded.
The snack shops did brisk business, as passengers awaited the arrival of the flights.
Most eyes were on the display screens, which showed almost all the flight arrivals and departures as delayed.
