<p>The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is investigating the shootout and the subsequent death of police sub-inspector Mallikarjun Bande in Gulbarga earlier this month, on Wednesday submitted a report on the latest progress in the investigation.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“We submitted the four-page report to the State government on Wednesday,” CID DGP Bipin Gopalakrishna said. The CID officials submitted the report, containing eyewitness accounts and other details, to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) S K Pattanayak.<br /><br />“It is just six days since the case has been handed over to the CID. A team headed by DIG Soumendu Mukherjee is conducting the probe. We require some more time to complete the report and submit it to the government,” Gopalakrishna added.<br /><br />He said the CID was awaiting a detailed report from the Forensic Science Laboratory, doctors in Hyderabad who treated Bande, and senior police officers. <br /><br />The CID chief returned from Gulbarga on Tuesday and explained to Home Minister K J George the progress made in the case.<br /></p>
