SP leader, aides booked for rape

They abduct her en route office, give her sedatives

A senior Samajwadi Party leader and his friends have been booked for allegedly gang raping a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur city, about 275 kilometres from here.

The victim, who is an employee at a private insurance company, has alleged in her complaint that the district president of SP's minority cell Shadab Alam and his friends had repeatedly gang raped her and later they forced her to marry an acquaintance of theirs, who was already married and has children.

She alleged that the culprits had abducted her while she was on her way to her office a few months back and gang-raped her after drugging her with sedatives.

She also said that they had also prepared an MMS clip of her rape and thereafter started black mailing her.  “They would threaten to make the MMS clip public and repeatedly gang-raped me,” the victim said in her complaint lodged with the police on Wednesday.

She said that Alam ‘forced’ her to marry one Shahid Latif, a friend of his. “When I reached Latif's home I found that he was already married and had children,” the victim said.

She said that she was thrown out of the house after she protested. A case of rape has been registered against Alam and five others and investigations were on.

Alam, however, refuted the charges and alleged that he had simply gone to Latif’s house to mediate after coming to know about differences between him and his wife.

A few days back, a teen was abducted at gunpoint from her house in Banda district by an SP leader’s nephew, identified only as Ahmed, and his friend Raees and was allegedly gang raped at an orchard.

One of the culprits Raees was later arrested by the police while Ahmed is absconding.
The locals, however, alleged that the cops were trying to shield the other culprit because of his political connection. While the victim said that she had been gang-raped by two persons, the cops said Ahmed didn’t rape her.
