'BJP to be with NDA even if it gets majority in LS polls'

Cong offer on LPG cylinders is 'lollypops' to woo voters, says Naidu

BJP former National President Venkaiah Naidu has said that the BJP is likely to get majority in the Lok Sabha polls. However, the BJP is committed to the NDA even if the BJP gets majority seats.

Speaking to mediapersons on Friday, he said that the Congress is in jitters  and is making last efforts to woo voters by offering ‘lollypops,’ in the form of raising the annual quota of subsidised LPG cylinders to households from nine to 12. It is totally unethical on the part of the Congress to resort to this sort of gimmicks on the eve of elections. The voters in the country will not go by the gimmicks.

BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu has sought answers from the ruling UPA on reasons that led to rationing and then the hike in cap on domestic LPG cylinders. The BJP wanted to know how the union government is going to meet the additional Rs 5,000 crore burden that its populist move on election eve will cast on the exchequer. He said that B S Yeddyurappa is a popular leader and his coming back to the party fold has strengthened the party. The process of identifying the BJP candidates for the Lok Sabha polls will commence from second week of February. The BJP will not enter into alliance with the SP, BSP and DMK. They were partly responsible for what is happening in the country.

Unfulfilled promises

Naidu said that the Congress had promised Women Reservation Bill 10 years ago.

However, it could not see the light of the day in spite of the fact that the alliance is being led by a woman. It had promised to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks and action on corrupt leaders. At the fag end of the tenure, the UPA government has started talking of bringing in Telangana Bill without addressing the concerns of all the regions in the State. They are adopting the opportunistic stand on the issue.

The Congress’s ambitious direct cash transfer did not result in vote transfer. It lost 137 out of 153 seats where the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme is being implemented. Likewise, the Food Security Bill did not get them vote security.

Naidu said that all negative aspects are attributed to Dr Manmohan Singh while the positive aspects are attributed to Rahul Gandhi.

“If Rahul Gandhi can make the government bend backwards and reverse its policy on cap on subsidised cylinders and ordinance on convicted lawmakers, then what happened to him in all these nine and half years. Why was he silent on the sufferings of the people in the form of price rise and slow economic growth,” Naidu questioned.
The Congress tried to rake up Gujarat riots and now they are engulfed in the 1984 Sikh genocide. The Congress is scared to project Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate because of the fear of rejection.

AAP

To a query on Aam Admi Party (AAP), Naidu said that the AAP is getting exposed day-by- day by its own folly. There is no clarity in their stand on several issues. If the chief minister sits on dharna, what will happen to people. Aaam Admi Party’s decision to enter into an alliance with the Congress has not been accepted by the people, he said.
