'Even at nine, I understood camera angles'

At the age of three, she declared to her mother, “I want to become like her,” pointing to the poster of the gorgeous actress Sushmita Sen pasted on a wall in her house.

Recalling that instance, the 16-year-old television actress, Aanchal Munjal tells us, “I know it sounds weird, but my mother describes the incident as it is. When I used to come back from school, I often imitated the characters of TV actors like Tulsi, and my English teachers.” The young damsel who is not just a TV celebrity, but has made her appearance in films such as Aarakshan and We are Family, is now a essaying a pivotal role in Life OK’s show Ek Boond Ishq.

Describing her character in the show, Aanchal says, “My character, Radha, has put her best friend and the lead of the show Mrityunjay in trouble. He has been jailed because of me and I have to prove my honesty and friendship by bringing him back to a normal life.”

In her teens, the actress doesn’t sound even a tad anxious about her studies or being conscious about portraying the role of an adult in TV shows. On that, she confidently replies, “I know my mother will make sure that I take a break from acting to complete my studies when the time comes. She got married at a very young age, she understands how important studies and career are for an individual’s growth.”

At the age of nine, Aanchal faced her first camera. She says, “Even at nine, I understood camera angles. I would ask my directors about camera angles and light, leaving them in a state of surprise.”

A role that she cherishes till now is that of Aliya in the 2010 comedy-drama We are Family because she got to play the screen daughter of Kajol and Kareena Kapoor, at once. Speaking about her future plans, the young lass turns uncharacteristically philosophical, saying, “Man proposes God disposes. I would rather keep my plans under wraps and do things, instead of talking about them.”
