A perfect place for a quick snack, Roll Junction, located on Cunningham Road, has a variety of tasty delights.

What’s better is that it does not leave a hole in the pocket. The place is teeming with people through the day with some of them stopping by to grab a bite while others taking it home. The rolls, which are made in a jiffy, are served straight from the pan to the plate, and are sure to leave you craving for more.

Right from paneer rolls, egg chicken rolls and vegetarian rolls among others, the place has something for everyone. Pointing out that they specialise in Kolkata style rolls, Dinesh Babu, who runs the place says, “We have around five to six varieties of rolls. They are popular because we use a special masala, which is a combination of more than 15 different spices.” Dinesh adds that the staff at the roll stall are all from Kolkata. “I have visited Kolkata a couple of times to see how the rolls are prepared. We were keen to have the same taste here,” he says.

The rolls are priced between Rs 25 and 60. With the area having many expensive restaurants, Dinesh says that their place is one of the few which caters to quick and cheap food. “We want to provide our customers food that offers value for money,” he says, adding, “In fact, many of those who come here pick up a roll for lunch and sometimes, dinner since it is very filling. Since we are located close to a hospital, we also have many visitors from there as well.”

Point out that the rolls are heavily oil-laden, Dinesh says, “That’s what gives the rolls the taste. But we do offer those who are health-conscious dried paratha with a stuffing of dry chicken with spices, which they relish.” For those with specific requirements, Dinesh says that they customise the rolls. “We have many regulars and we know their taste. But many of them like the rolls in a particular way. We make it to suit their taste buds,” he explains.

Devaraj, whose office is located close to the stall and visits the place regularly, says, “It’s like a full meal for me. When I come here for lunch, I pick up a double roll. I like the egg chicken roll, which I have most of the time. The spices bring out the flavour.” Aliya, another frequent visitor, says, “This is one of the few places in the area where we can get something that is filling for Rs 50. I come here quite often since I work around here. Since they also make it quickly, Í don’t have to worry about getting late to work.” Roll Junction is located on Cunningham Road (outside Sigma Mall).
