'I always wanted to be an actor'

excited Arjan Bajwa

From walking the ramp in reality, to playing a model on screen in Fashion, it seems Arjan Bajwa’s life has come a full circle. After the smash hit Fashion in 2008, he hit the bull’s eye again with his Telugu blockbuster Arundhati in 2009. Now, he will soon be seen in Hema Malini’s production Tell Me Oh Khuda opposite Esha Deol, for which he started shooting recently.

Says the lad from Delhi, “Esha and I have been shooting for a few days for the film now.” How has his interaction with Dream Girl Hema Malini been? “It has been very nice. She comes to the sets often, and she is so humble and down-to-earth,” he exclaims.

Speaking about his role in the film, he says, “I play an uber-cool photographer from New York, who happens to meet this girl (played by Esha). He follows her and decides to come back to the country. It’s a pretty cool role, something different from my roles in Guru and Fashion.” He adds, “The music for the film is by Pritam.”
Currently shooting in Mumbai, the cast will soon head to Turkey. “Four cameramen have been employed to handle the camerawork,” he informs. Is it true that
Tell Me Oh Khuda is inspired from the hit musical Mamma Mia?

He quips, “I am surprised at this news. It’s shocking to see how fast a rumour spreads. I just feel it’s a few people assuming things.”

The good-looking model has shot for many commercials opposite well-known actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Katrina Kaif. Are there any actresses that he would love work with?

“Amongst the younger lot, I hope to work with Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor,” he wishes. But his favourite actress is Kajol. “She has played such fantastic roles and many a time, I have seen a movie just because she is a part of it. It would be a dream come true to work with her,” he says.

Arjan is not one of those for whom acting happened by fluke. He was quite clear about his goals from the beginning. “I always wanted to be an actor,” says he. After a blockbuster like Arundhati and many other Telugu films to his credit, has he learnt the language? “Yes, I can speak Telugu now,” he laughs.

Apart from Tell Me Oh Khuda, Arjan also has Hide And Seek opposite Purab Kohli, Amruta Patki and Ayaaz Khan lined up for release. “I want to do more films down South and I would love to work in Kannada movies,” he says.

Having been a model, what’s his style statement? “Just keep it simple. Don’t over do things,” he answers. And his philosophy in life is to relax and be prepared for everything. “After all, it doesn’t matter how fast you reach a point, what matters is how far you reach a point,” he signs off.
