Teachers should ensure that children are not influenced by societal divisions

Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Kimmane Rathnakar said that there was a need to impart quality education, along with moral values, at Suttur, Nanjangud taluk, Mysore district, on Saturday.

He was speaking after inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of JSS Residential High School. It is the responsibility of both teachers and parents that the children are not influenced by differences of caste, creed and religion. Teachers should ensure that messages that divide children on these lines are not propagated in schools, he said.

Speaking on the inherent talent of children, he said that schools should provide a stage for children to exhibit their skills. He advised students to make use of the opportunities provided in schools to achieve laurels in the field of education.

He said that the progress of the nation was dependent solely on education. He said that people should imbibe the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda and other great personalities of the country. However, it was sad that the respect accorded to the photographs of these great men was not given to their ideals, he complained. Speaking on Ksheera Bhagya scheme, he said that successful implementation of the scheme had helped control malnutrition in the State.
