'Provide equal, quality education for all'

Also, 10 per cent of the resources under the per capita income, should be reserved for education sector. A decision to this effect was taken at the district-level meet on Children’s Rights organised by the Adima Shakti Children’s Forum in Kolar on Sunday.

Addressing the meet, Narayanswamy of Samajika Parivarthana Andolana said, more than 40 lakh students were deceived of education, in the absence of the Government not reserving more amount for primary education. All the children in the country should receive equal and quality education, he urged.

Another guest on the occasion, folklore artist Gollalli Shivaprasad opined that there was need to have suitable platform for the children to exhibit their talent. If education and health of the students were taken care of, then the children would be in a better position to perform. They would be able to focus on their extra-curricular activities and would be able to hone their skills better, he added.

Later on, a Karate performance by the children was presented on the occasion. Before the commencement of the meet, the children’s rally was organised, which began from the Traveller’s Bungalow and passed through the main thoroughfares of the City, including the Gandhi Vana, M G Road, Kalamma Temple Road, New Bus Stand Circle and culminated in front of the Kumbaar Students’ Hostel.

Throughout the rally, the children shouted slogans, urging the Government to implement comprehensive education policy in the country.  The district-level meet was attended by hundreds of children from the various taluks of the district.
