While the Lok Sabha TV lost the opportunity to show the historic vote on Telangana, the Rajya Sabha TV seized it, offering its CEO Gurdeep Singh Sappal the chance to brag about scoring over its counterpart.

At 8:06 pm, when the Upper House voted to clear the Telangana bill, Sappal tweeted the success, saying the Rajya Sabha TV telecast the Telangana proceedings in “full”.

The Lok Sabha TV, however, blacked out on Tuesday just as the House voted on the bill. Though it cited technical glitches, many felt harder to believe it.  Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj did not buy Lok Sabha TV CEO Rajiv Mishra's clarification that a technical fault resulted in disruption of coverage, saying it was not technical glitch but tactical glitch that resulted in the blackout. Amidst claims that Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar ordered the blackout, Lok Sabha Secretariat denied them strongly.  Sappal added fuel to the fire with a series of tweets. He said Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari had “directed” him on February 7 to telecast "everything on Rajya Sabha TV, including disruptions".

“He (Ansari) wants people to see everything transparently, so also began practice of recording names of MPs coming to the Well in RS Bulleting and proceedings,” he said.
