Two class 12 students, a boy and a girl, were found dead near the railway track at Doddanekkundi, off Varthur, on Friday night.

The body of the boy was found under the nearby bridge while that of the girl was near the tracks.

The police suspect that the two were struck by a moving train. However, they were yet to ascertain whether the death was caused due to an accident or the duo had committed suicide.

The deceased had been identified as Prem Chand, a student of St John’s College and Anjitha Krishna of Kendriya Vidyalaya. The boy was a resident of Madhuranagar in Varthur and the girl was staying with her parents at Doddanekkundi.

According to police, Prem and Anjitha together went to tuition class on Friday night. Anjitha’s father approached the HAL police since she did not return home even after 8 pm.

Meanwhile, the police rushed near Doddanekkundi railway bridge junction on receiving the information of a boy’s body lying nearby. Anjitha’s parents also went to the spot and identified the body as that of Prem Chand. The police then started searching for Anjitha's body and found it near the track.

The police said the incident might have taken place around 7.30 pm. No death note was found at the spot. Asked whether the boy and girl were in love, the police, quoting the parents of the deceased, said that Prem and Anjitha were good friends.
