Bar owner says 'Rs 50L valuables burgled'

Police are probing a complaint by a bar owner that thieves broke into his house in BTM Layout on Wednesday night and made off with cash, gold and silver ornaments — all worth Rs 50 lakh. 

In a complaint to the police, Nagaraj claimed thieves entered his house when he was away visiting relatives. They had broken open the window grill. They then smashed a cupboard and took away cash, 1.5 kg of gold ornaments and two kg of silver articles. While police have booked a case, they suspect that Nagaraj has cooked up the story. He “could not satisfactorily explain” why he visited his relatives. Police  found some ornaments kept in a locker but it was left untouched.
