RJD’s secretary general and Rajya Sabha member Ramkripal Yadav announced on Saturday that he was resigning from all party positions, in protest against declaration of Lalu Prasad’s daughter Misa as a candidate for the Patliputra constituency in Bihar’s capital city.

The senior leader was yet to resign from RJD’s primary membership and remained tight mouthed over which party he would join. Ramkripal received feelers from Ramvilas Paswan’s LJP, while speculations were also rife that he would join the BJP. Meanwhile, a senior JD(U) leader had told Deccan Herald that Ramkripal was in touch with his party.

After the release of the RJD candidate list, Ramkripal flew to Delhi from Patna and vented his ire over Lalu Prasad’s decision to give his daughter Misa the Patliputra seat, from where he wanted to contest.

Things took a dramatic turn on Friday, when Misa flew down to Delhi and met Ramkripal at his residence to placate him and was even prepared to withdraw her candidacy.

“I think, the way Misa came to me yesterday, it was an 'emotional atyachar' (atrocity) or a 'political stunt' which was used against a simple person like me,” the senior leader told a press conference on Saturday.
