Traffic cop suspended

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI, traffic) was suspended for not issuing receipts after collecting fines from traffic rule violators. Ramesh, attached to the Basavanagudi traffic police station, was in charge of handling towed vehicles parked in no parking zones. The sub-inspector, after collecting fines from violators, was allegedly not giving receipts. One of the violators had lodged a complaint with DCP (traffic west) Ramesh.

Speeding car claims life

A speeding car claimed the life of a 60-year-old man on Chowdiah Road on Friday night.

According to police, Nataraj, a resident of Andhra Colony in Vyalikaval was riding his bicycle when a speeding car rammed into him, killing him on the spot. Passersby who witnessed the accident noted the registration number of the vehicle and informed the police. Based on the information, the police traced the vehicle and identified the driver as Sumanth. A manhunt has been launched to trace the driver.

Chains snatched

Three separated incidents of chain-snatching was reported in Madiwala police station limits alone on Saturday. Two bike-borne men snatched 15-gram gold chain of Vijayakumar while he was entering his house at 5th Sector, HSR Layout. In the other incident, four men waylaid Senthil Kumar and his friend while thery were riding a bike in the same area. They made away with 49 gram of gold ornaments, police said.
Prashanth, who was on his way to friend’s house was robbed of his valuables by three men near Silk Board on Friday night. The suspects attached him with a iron rod and passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital.
