BJP candidate's assets worth Rs 11 crore

The 46-year-old Gopinath, has declared that he owns 25.05 acre agricultural land in Hulimangala, village in Anekal taluk worth Rs 9 crore. An engineering graduate, Gopinath also owns 2,087 sq ft of non-agricultural land at Sadanandanagar worth Rs 52 lakh. Besides, he owns two sheds in Hulimangala worth Rs 40 lakh and a 3,200 sq ft house in the same village worth around Rs six lakh.

The candidate has declared that he has cash deposits of Rs 18.86 lakh and another deposit of Rs 7.5 lakh in a joint account with his spouse.  His wife Gayathri has bank deposit of Rs 8.15 lakh besides 500 gms of gold worth Rs 8.5 lakh. Gopinath has also taken personal loans to the tune of Rs 40 lakh, according to his affidavit.

Cong candidate

Congress candidate from Bangalore constituency Dayanand and his family members own property worth Rs 9.30 crore. But despite being a crorepati, according to the affidavit he filed, he does not possess any vehicle.

Rejected

Three nomination papers were rejected by election authorities on Wednesday during the scrutiny process for polls to the 25 seats earmarked in the Legislative Council to be filled by local authorities constituencies.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, State Chief Electoral Officer C S Suranjana said nomination of three independent candidates - Saiyad Shahabuddin (Gulbarga), Ananthakumara Yamanappa Byakud (Belguam) and G Madaiah (Mysore) were rejected. December 4 is the last day for withdrawal of nominations. The polls to the 25 seats is scheduled to be held on December 18.
