Dusk-to-dawn

Renuka Sangeeth Sabha is presenting a dusk-to-dawn festival at Ravindra Kalakshetra from March 15, 9 pm to March 16, 6.30 pm. The artistes performing are Brij Narayan (sarod), Sanjay Mukherjee (tabla),  Pravin Godkhindi (bansuri), Kumaresh (violin), Nareshkumar Malhotra (vocal) and Ustad Faiyaz Khan (vocal).

Music festival Venkatesha Natya Mandir is organising Rasa Sanje, a music festival on March 15, 6 pm at ADA Ranga Mandira.The two-day festival includes veena recital by Suma Sudhindra, talavaadya concert directed by Vidwan Vasudev Rao, Dashavatara dance feature by Bharamara School of Performing Arts and Megha Sandesha by Venkatesha Natya Mandir. Srilatha (veena), NN Ganesh Kumar (violin), Anooru Anantha Krishna Sharma (mridangam) and Ravi Kumar BR (ghatam) will accompany Suma Sudhindra. Entry is free.

Original tunes A pure jazz concert ‘Tarun Balani Collective’ will be held on March 15, 9.30 pm onwards at Windmills Craftworks, 331 Road, 5B EPIP Zone, Whitefield. Tarun Balani (India) will be on drums, Tiziano Bianchi (Italy) on trumpet, Grant Richards (USA) on piano and Jayant Manchanda (India) on bass.

Veena recital As part of Sapthaswara Academy’s 119th grand-monthly chamber music programme, a dual veena recital by Vidwan Jeyaraj and Jayasri Jeyaraj of Chennai, accompanied on the mridangam by C Cheluvaraj and ghatam by Gurumurthy, will be held on March 16, 6.45 pm at 4/2, Malleswara Mansion, 6th Main, between 6th and 7th Cross, Malleswaram.

Picture perfect‘Fete De La Photo 2014’ (‘A Photo Festival in Public Space’) will be held in the City till March 15. ‘Fete De La Photo’ is organised by Institut Francais en Inde, the French Embassy in India and the Alliance Francaise.

Astrophotography with photos by Laurent Laveder, Thierry Legault and Ajay Talwar will be showcased at JN Planetarium. India series with photos by Xavier Zimbardo, Amit Mehra and Nitin Akolya will be on at Rangoli Metro Art Centre, macrophotography with photos by David Chambon and Magali Couffon will be at Richard’s Park and Paris series with photos by Amit Mehra and Shome Basu will be on show at Alliance Francaise.

Laugh riot The Company Theatre will present ‘Noises Off’ at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall on March 16, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm. It is one of the most performed comedies in the world. It is written by Michael Frayn and directed by Atul Kumar. For tickets, log on to www.bookmyshow.com

Alliance Française de Bangalore, in collaboration with the NGMA, is presenting ‘On Les Aura (Line of Fire) - When illustration and storytelling meet music’, an on-stage graphic representation of the diary of the WWI French soldier, on March 15, 6.15 pm. The venue is NGMA, Palace Road. 

Popular artiste Sunburn Arena will present DJ ‘Deadmau5’ in concert at Supernova Arena, Century Avenue, off Airport Road on March 15, 5 pm. Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known by his stage name ‘Deadmau5’, is a Canadian progressive-house music producer and performer from Toronto, Ontario.
 
Soothing notes
Ananya and Ragasudhalaya are holding a vocal concert by Pavan Rangachar, accompanied by TAS Mani (mridangam) and TN Ramesh (ghatam), on March 16, 6 pm at Ananya Sabhangana, Malleswaram.

Adaptation
The Company Theatre will present Atul Kumar’s Piya Behroopiya on March 15, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm at Chowdaiah Hall. The Hindi musical comedy is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’. The play is translated by Amitosh Nagpal and has an ensemble cast of some of the best theatre actors. The play will have English subtitles. Tickets are available on www.bookmyshow.com

Thematic show
As part of Nrithyollasa 18, Shakti, a thematic presentation by Anjali Santhosh (Bangalore) and L Narendra Kumar (choreographer and director), Anusham Dance Group, will be held on March 15, 6.30 pm at Seva Sadan, 14th Cross, Malleswaram.
 
Expressive form 
Yakshagaana Tapas Sangha is organising a yakshagana performance on March 16, 3 pm at Udaya Bhanu Kala Sangha, Kempegowda Nagar.  Some of the artistes who will be performing are Venugopal Hosnagara, Narayan Hebbar and Ajitesh Hegde. Vocal delightA Carnatic vocal concert by Seetha Satyanarayana and team will be held on March 16, 5 pm at Gayana Samaja, KR Road.

Yakshagana
Sapthak is organising Gadhayudha, a yakshagana presentation, on March 16, 6 pm at Khincha Hall, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road. 
‘Nostalgia’ The exhibition ‘Nostalgia’ will be held till March 16 at Welcome Art Gallery, ITC Windsor and will feature artists such as Akbar Padamsee, Satish Gujral and Arzan Khambatta. 

Rare tributeA musical tribute will be paid to Ustad Hafeez Ahmed Khan of Rampur gharana, with excerpts from his concerts and taranas by his disciples Pandit Rajendra Prasanna, Subhendu Ghosh (Delhi) and Sakuntala Narasimhan (Bangalore) on March 15, 5.30 pm at Khincha Hall, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road. 

Unique play
Underdog Entertainment is presenting ‘Me, My Wife & Katrina’, a play, at Alliance Francaise on March 15, 5.30 pm.
